Today we launch inSuit’s new website. A website that will bring inSuit to our customers and help internet users and especially website owners better understand the importance of web accessibility and usability.
As we have shown in our statistics section, there are more than 1 billion people worldwide with some form of disability; this represents 15% of the world population, 80 million of which in Europe alone. In addition, although more and more people are using the Internet on a daily basis (62% of Europeans), we are witnessing the digital exclusion of older persons, with just 26% of Europeans older than 65 using the Internet daily. This digital exclusion of older citizens is no doubt attributable to the problems associated with accessibility and usability: improving this situation is in our hands, using tools such as inSuit!
inSuit’s principal mission is to eliminate current technological barriers for people with disabilities, in addition to enhancing the browsing experience of Internet users. As in the physical world, improvements made to accessibility have an impact on everybody, making spaces more usable.
Our website also includes this new blog, which will feature relevant opinions and analyses regarding web accessibility and usability, provided by experts in the field. For instance, we are fortunate to work with Enrique Varela, whose extensive and weighty experience in social technology and accessibility helps us align inSuit with the needs of customers and users every day, always striving for usable web accessibility and accessible web usability.
